Bruce Munro’s Forest of Light

Bruce Munro’s Forest of Light

Forest of Light at Longwood Gardens by Bruce Munro, Art ExhibitionHead down to Longwood Gardens this summer for a truly illuminating experience, as UK light artist Bruce Munro transforms the park into a magical Forest of Light.

Marking Munro’s first garden installation in the US, Light: Installations by Bruce Munro showcases never-before-seen views of Longwood at night through fanciful illuminated creations.

The beautiful and imaginative exhibition will feature seven large outdoor sculptures, two installations within Longwood’s vast four-acre Conservatory and an array within the Music Room.

After the sun has set, night-time visitors shall amble between the 20,000 glowing creations that resemble blooming posies in the Forest of Light and wander through Longwood’s meadow where a multicoloured illuminated maze awaits, which gently changes hues to music.

Renowned for his large-scale art installations, Bruce Munro has created such delights as the CD Sea at Long Knoll and Field of Light at The Eden Project in Cornwall, UK. Drawing international acclaim in early 2011 for his Light Shower and Water Towers at Salisbury Cathedral, Munro was asked to exhibit at the Biennale Kijkduin in The Hague.

Exhibiting for the first time in the States with Light at Longwood, later on this year he is planned to show at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery with contemporary glass design.

Light: Installations by Bruce Munro is running from now until September 29, 2012.
